Definitions for terms, acronyms, and shorthand used across the engineering team.

How to use this page​

  • Add a term whenever you have to explain something for the second time.
  • Keep definitions short — a sentence or two — and link out to fuller explanations elsewhere in the guide where they exist.
  • Group related terms together where it helps; otherwise alphabetical.

Terms​

ACF — Advanced Custom Fields. The plugin we use most often for structured custom content.

ADR — Architectural Decision Record. A short document capturing a significant technical decision and the reasoning behind it. See Documentation Expectations.

WPCS — WordPress Coding Standards. The PHP_CodeSniffer ruleset published by the WordPress project. See Coding Standards.
